What teams are tryouts for?

PWYSA Bandits:

This team will be our designated top team that plays at the A level and elite tournaments when possible.  Girls will be expected to commit to a full summer schedule of 7-8 tournaments including possible out of state travel, along with league games equaling 60-70 games.  Players can expect 4-6 team events per week in the summer for games and practices.

The Bandits will be expected to play winter dome ball together and train throughout the winter as well.  The Bandits teams will be looking to secure corporate sponsorships as a possible way to offset costs.

This team will be the second team that plays at the B level.  Girls will be expected to commit 5-7 tournaments, along with league games.  Practices will officially begin in March.  The coach and team will decide on winter training.

Why two different teams?

PWSYA wants to keep all our girls playing in the association playing a higher level and not leave the community for other teams.  We know that players and families have different levels of commitment and offering two team options will be able to meet the needs of today's travel softball player.

The cost:

The registration fee for all of these teams will be $450-500 plus additional costs for uniforms, out of state travel, dome ball, and any additional trainings.  These additional costs will be figured out by the coaches of the teams in cooperation with families and assessed later in the year.

Registration fees will be collected later in the fall by paying half the fee and half the fee in the spring.

Tryout costs will be part of the final registration fee for PWYSA.

Team Formation:

The Bandits team will be filled at each level first by offering girls spots on the team based on position, ability, skill, and commitment to play at that level.  At each age level once the Bandit roster is filled, the PWYSA Gold team will be formed and announced.

Girls may be asked to play up at a higher age to ensure we have the talent to compete at the A level for the Bandits and B level for the PWYSA Gold team.

If teams are short players, we will open up spots to players from outside the association.

The ideal roster size is 11-12 girls with two to three pitchers per team with two catchers.

Registration closed August 19.
